*****Kid’s Course (Information for the Parents)*****

Packet Pick-Up  Friday July 20th:

Located: The corner of College Drive and River Ave under the

event transition tents in North Idaho.

Race Day Saturday July 21st:

Located: The corner of College Drive and River Ave under the

event transition tents in North Idaho.

Late Pick-Up Starts at 7:00 and closes at 8:00 (NO EXCEPTIONS)

SWIM: Flotation devices are allowed during the swim portion of the race.

The water is very shallow and if need be, kids who do not swim well can walk

through the water. We will have volunteers in the water to assist.  

NOTE: There will be a short run distance from the water to transition which

will be roped off and supported by volunteers.  There will be a carpeted path

for kids to run on up to the dike road, and then down to transition. If you are

concerned about your child's bare feet, they may use water shoes in the water

and through to transition, or have a pair of shoes or flip-flops on the beach to

put on after the swim to run up to transition.

 

BIKE: Helmets are required during the bike portion of the race. Training wheels

and other safety devices are allowed and encouraged when needed. Our course will

take kids throughout blocked-off roads on the NIC campus and back to transition.  

Monitored corners and crosswalks will be set up to allow for a safe ride.

 

RUN: Kids will run a marked course on the Centennial Trail and back to the finish line.  

Volunteers will be on the course to ensure a safe run and clear turnaround markers. 

All finishers will receive a medal and ice cream!

 

SAFETY: As a safety effort and to avoid collisions of age groups on the course,

each wave will start AFTER the previous wave has completed the bike course. 

Safety first! Our times are based on prior years, so a close estimate of the day is as follows: 

 

Transition opens at 8:00     Approximate start times* and distances**

Wave 1 .…… 4-5 years     9:00*      30 yard swim, .5 mile bike, .25 mile run**

Wave 2 .…… 6–7 years     9:20*      60 yard swim, 1 mile bike, .5 mile run**

Wave 3 .…… 8–9 years     9:40*      80 yard swim, 2 mile bike, .75 mile run**

Wave 4 .…… 10-12 years  10:00*     100 yard swim, 3 mile bike, 1 mile run**
